About
CODE & BOOKS
We write assembly language manuals for computers from the years when every byte was counted, and we give away every line of their code.
How the books are made
Each book starts from nothing — binary, hexadecimal, installing the tools — and ends with complete games written from scratch. Nothing in them is drawn or remembered: every screenshot is a photograph of a program running in an emulator, every number was measured by a program written to measure it, and the classic mistakes are assembled and shown rather than described.
The code is the other half of the book. It is published on GitHub, almost all of it under the MIT licence, organised by chapter with the same folder names the book prints, with a script that assembles everything again and checks it byte for byte.
The authors
Rohan A. Banerjee and Henry Mercer and Eric A. Norton and Aravind J. Deshmukh and Jorah Sallow.
Contact
Write to info@codeandbooksweb.com. For a mistake in a book, the quickest way is an issue on the book's GitHub repository, with the page number.
